Labor and Farming

There’s no reason the richest 1% should continue to reap the benefits of your hard work while you struggle to pay bills. As a small business owner myself, I understand how hard it can be to make ends meet while running your business. I’ve seen the devastation of unbalanced policies in my own community.

Agenda

  • Fair wages for all workers, including increasing the minimum wage nationwide to at least $17 by 2027.

  • Limit the amount of land that a single corporation can own and protect the land owned by farmers in North Carolina from being sold to overseas developers. Large corporate farms benefit the most from land consolidation, while small family farms suffer.

  • I understand that small businesses are the foundation of our communities and local economies. As a small business owner myself, I understand how hard it can be to make ends meet while running your business, which is why I support expanding access to affordable loans and grants so small businesses can grow, hire more workers, and keep our local economy strong

  • Tax credits and subsidies for small businesses that will allow them to pay their employees a living wage. Business owners who want to do right by their workers shouldn’t be punished by updated minimum wage laws that reflect the new cost of living.

  • Farmers need to be able to sell their crops. They desperately need economic support and help to repair their relationships with buyers that have been damaged by harsh, punitive tariffs.

  • Develop a fair trade policy that promotes job growth and incentivizes jobs to come to and stay in North Carolina.
