Housing and Economy
The attempt by institutional investors to own the housing market has driven up prices and squeezed out first-time home buyers. How does it make us feel to know that our children may have to bid against a billion-dollar company for their first home? I will fight to push corporate greed out of our housing market, and I won't take no for an answer. We must work diligently to preserve homeownership in America so that future generations can build wealth through owning a home.
Agenda
-
Restrict investors who want to buy up all the houses in an area and drive prices up to pad their own pockets
-
Support new construction of affordable housing, not just in cities, but in rural areas too, by removing unnecessary red tape and modernizing restrictive zoning laws
-
Cut taxes for middle- and working-class families
-
Right now, hedge funds are able to avoid billions in taxes through the carried interest tax loophole. I pledge to eliminate this loophole and make these hedge funds pay their fair share of taxes.
-
Protect Social Security so you can retire and get the funds that you paid into
